Saint Mary Respite began in the ’80s, this is a National Council of Catholic Women’s Work of Mercy program. A volunteer will come to the home to be a companion to the shut-in in order for the caregiver to take a break, go to an appointment, or do shopping. All volunteers have been fingerprinted, background checked and taken all required courses specified by the diocese. Volunteers are not allowed to give medication. You may expect the volunteer to stay two-three hours.
